Who reports when there are two or more mandated reporters who suspect?
Anyone who suspects, or has evidence of, child abuse should report it! Often, when one person makes a report, the information is rather informally followed up, and sometimes simply filed for future reference. Child protection might not launch an investigation, based on a single report. However, if the Agency receives multiple reports, particularly from different sources, theres almost always an in-depth investigation conducted. Its also important to report separate instances of suspected abuse of a particular child. For example, if you report that child has a black eye and at a later date, they have another one, or other suspicious injuries, you should report it, again. Keep in mind, child protection workers normally doesnt tell an abuse reporter what actions they are taking. So, if youve made a report and you dont think anything is being done, that probably isnt the case.
